Duties
- Oversees all aspects of project planning and development for vertical construction projects for the life of a project from procurement to close out.
- Procurement, Scheduling; Budget; Funding source and allocations; Grants Management; Prioritization of Work; and Finalization and Closeout.
- Oversees the review, analysis, and interpretations of complex project design and construction budgets, schedules, and costs to ensure conformance with authorized scope, time and dollar requirements.
- Manages project team in developing projects' scope, schedule, and budget making sure that the goals and vision of the stakeholders are reflected.
- Guides funding strategies for each project, including leveraging funds with state match grants, private grants, and identifying non-profit partners, etc.
- Manages the resolution of cost overruns through value engineering.
- Presents executive reports to stakeholders and approves new projects in specific projects as required.
- Oversees the financial closeout of projects. Tracks compliance in accordance with the guidelines of the funding sources, following substantial completion.
- Oversees the provision of necessary documentation for closed-out projects under litigation and participates in depositions whenever necessary.
- Implements recommendations for areas requiring improvement, including project reporting and process.
- Recommends solutions to technically complex issues for architects, engineers, and/or other lower-level project managers.
- Supports community and stakeholder communications regarding high profile projects and participates as needed.
- Manages lessons learned for all projects and develops trainings to staff for project improvements.
- Manages change order negotiations and assists with contract review process as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining and reporting on project health and performance to internal leadership.
- Responsible for collaboration and management of the career development for managed staff.
- Multiple leadership roles in managing K-12 projects, ideally with knowledge of alternative delivery methods (GC/CM or Design-Build).
- Proven track record of managing projects for public or educational agencies, and coordination of complex activities.
- Ability to tailor communication style and messaging to suit various contexts, ensuring effective communication across all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences, including client stakeholders, executive leadership, project teams, and external partners.
- Demonstrated skill in facilitating productive meetings and working sessions, encouraging open dialogue and effectively guiding discussions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage staff assignments and collaborate with team members on their professional development and career growth.
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management. Candidates who do not meet the education requirements.
