Primary Responsibilities:
- Preventive activities: Conducting safety evaluations of processes and practices to assess effectiveness of safety integration; provide direction to manufacturing engineering with redesign or development of workstations or manufacturing processes. Provide direction to supervisors to ensure all areas of the facility are free from unsafe conditions and unsafe practices. Manage the STOP process as established for the company. Manage all regulatory compliance activities such as, but not limited to, Hazard Communication, Press Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Laser Safety, Robotic Safety, Machine functional safety. Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend changes adjustments for improvement.
- Responsive activities: Manage accident investigation process and ensure corrective measures are aimed at preventing similar injuries corporate-wide. Ensure complaints are investigated. Ensure all safety issues are resolved. Serve as a technical resource to management to answer questions related to application of safety principles. Analyze injury data for emerging trends and recommend measures to counteract unwanted results.
- Developmental activities: Participate on safety teams and ensure process is managed for success. Plan, develop and deliver effective safety training. Coach supervisors on observations and departmental audits. Decide upon need and deliver specialized training to engineers, supervisors and other disciplines as needed. Provide input to Safety Director in the development of safety policies and procedures. Manage training and developmental strategies as they relate to safety culture and safety processes.
- Functional activities: Attend departmental meetings, continuing education and training, travel, assisting with budget and other tasks as assigned. Work with outside agencies as needed. This could include OSHA, DNR, local fire departments, insurance carriers, and broker.
- Environmental health compliance & sustainability related activities.
Experience
Required- On-going training and attendance at seminars, specifically OSHA compliance, machine guarding, laser training, robotics, and ergonomics.
- 7 to 10 years progressive safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior leadership experience
- Certification in Safety (CSP) or other related field is desirable.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Occup Health & Safety or related field
Salary : $52,800 - $66,800
