Title: Computer Science Teacher - .6 FTE Location: Ephraim Curtis Middle School Reports to: Principal Position Summary: Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified Computer Science Teacher to teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Align lessons to the MA Computer Science and Digital Literacy curriculum standards, including a robotics unit; Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests; Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate; Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more computer science levels; Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of struggling learners and those needing additional challenges Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible; Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress; Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations; Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health; Assign lessons and correct homework; Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students; Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs; Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress; Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence; Attend staff meetings, and serve on staff committees as required; Complete other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree Required; Masters Degree preferred;Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Instructional Technology (all levels) and/or Digital Literacy/Computer Science (5-12) through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education strongly preferred;Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful school environment;A growth mindset that reflects an openness to change, willingness to problem-solve, and an interest in developing new ideas and programs;A willingness to engage with colleagues in constructive feedback to improve professional performance;Belief that every child can learn and the drive to help every child reach his or her potential;Ability to succeed in a fast-paced classroom/ school environment while remaining calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges.
