The Suffolk University Center for Career Equity, Development & Success supports students and alums engaged in career exploration, development, and readiness to be globally competitive job candidates. The Career Center teaches students the skills and resources required to take their ambitions beyond graduation day into the working world. The Career Center promotes access and equity for all students, building bridges to close the opportunity gap.
The Career Communities Graduate Fellow will primarily help to administer and market programs associated with the 9 industry-specific Career Communities: networking events, workshops, classroom presentations and employer events. They will also review student resumes, provide technical support in tracking employer engagement, support career events, and perform other administrative duties.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
· Support the Career Center with implementing and promoting career communities’ programs.
· Interact with employers, alumni, University partners, and students to promote participation in programs and manage events.
· Gain expertise in online career management platform—Handshake—to assist with data collection, employer approvals and other projects.
· Receive training and supervision to advise undergraduate students with career related questions in both individual and group settings.
· Facilitate programming information sessions, tabling, and orientation sessions for students.
· Assist Career Center staff in the development and delivery of classroom-based presentations using a variety of tools and technologies to engage students.
· Participate actively in Career Center events to increase campus outreach and promote the special programs.
· Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Suffolk University.
· Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to take initiative and be self-directed.
· Technical proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)..
· Able to collaborate effectively with multiple constituents including students, faculty, staff, employers, alumni, parents, and other visitors.
· Interest in career services, advising, student coaching and storytelling a plus.
Length of Position: September 2024 to May 2025
Time Commitment: 12-15 hours per week
