Description Summary
Compile information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials, supplies and services. Purchase equipment, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of SCPC plants. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings and lead teams in developing and implementing these opportunities
Principal Duties and Responsibilites
Code documents according to company procedures and file accordingly.
Source, negotiate and procure machinery, equipment, parts, tools, supplies & services from suppliers & vendors
Develop a program that creates supplier scorecards that assigns scoring to current suppliers regarding quality, service, lead times, fill rates, payment terms, and other applicable information.
Investigate, target and meet with potential new suppliers regarding service/parts.
Investigate buying patterns or replacement patterns among SCPC plants and work with Maintenance Planning to recommend adjustments to spare parts inventory.
Periodically visit current supplier plants looking for ways to lower cost of goods and/or strengthen worker safety and/or food safety from the supplier to the SCPC plants.
Negotiate service packages with certain vendors for preferred rates on evening hours, scheduled service calls, emergency calls, parts, and other similar information.
Work with vendors to implement more programs on worker safety and sanitary design of their equipment.
Work with SCPC plants to identify obsolete parts and present plans to either keep, sell back to vendors or salvage/scrap.
Educate self on new parts/suppliers/technologies in the industry, which may include attendance at shows, visiting supplier plants or other similar activities.
Communicate to SCPC associates on latest technologies in industry and current supplier capabilities.
Develop, implement and educate our people on corporate parts/service programs with suppliers to lower SCPC overall costs.
Manage and convert inventory of parts/services when SCPC switches to other suppliers or products.
Issue a report comparing SCPC plant usage of parts and the root cause of equipment or part failures.
Develop a report of SCPC current vendors that lists lead times, terms of payment, freight charges, charges for technical services, location of their nearest distribution center and other similar information.
Develop and disseminate regular reports for special projects, such as supplier/vendor credit buyback.
Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a Purchaser/Buyer role, preferably in an engineering setting.
Certification or Licensure Requirements: None required.

Able to read and comprehend printed and electronic information.
Able to use computers proficiently with strong competence in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
Operate computers programmed with procurement software to record, store and analyze information.

Work Enviornment
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with typical MRO positions, including mostly sitting with some standing/walking required. Other light physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing less than 15lbs may be required as needed. Some travel may be required in between plants.
Some travel to other locations is required. Most work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.
