Job Summary

The Cutting Team is responsible for operating cutting machines, performing routine cleaning of cutting machines and inspecting the quality of completed cut products. This position is also responsible for advising and assisting entry-level associates and is fully trained on all machine operations.

Essential Job Duties

1.Operates cutting machine to cut single layers of fabric into parts for cushions; adjusts cutting techniques to types of fabrics; marks fabrics with identifying information using appropriate method; starts machines, monitors operations and adjusts as needed; notifies supervisor of mechanical malfunctions.
2.Inspects products to ensure that specifications are met and to determine whether machines require adjustment; reads work orders to determine which fabrics to be cut; confers with coworkers to obtain information about orders, processes, or problems.
3.Performs routine machine inspection and cleaning and notifies supervisor of any necessary repairs or worn or defective parts.
4.Assists with bundling as needed.

Additional Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Keeps areas around cutting machine clean and swept.
• Assists in additional housekeeping duties for department including dusting and mopping as needed to ensure safety.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Expected Hours of Work

• Core hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. with expected overtime during peak periods for months of February through September.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
• One to two years of experience in fabric cutting – industrial setting preferred;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Basic math skills and understanding of three-dimensional space textile characteristics required;
• Exceptional hand-eye coordination and detail-oriented;
• Good attendance and demonstrated work ethic required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high with alternating periods of moderate to high stress. There is some exposure to temperature extremes and dust in the warehouse/plant environment.
