POSITION TITLE: Buyer DATE: April 2022
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: Purchasing & Inventory
LOC: Middletown, Delaware


POSITION SUMMARY: The Buyer reports to the Purchasing & Inventory Manager and is responsible to work directly with internal and external customers providing pricing and availability, placing purchase orders meeting customer needs and interacting with all levels of management regarding supply chain; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains established purchasing procedures.
  • Provide quotes to the internal customer base.
  • Writes/Reviews/Edits Quotes for purchase checking for accuracy.
  • Obtain procurement approvals from Supervisors as needed.
  • Generate Purchase Orders with pricing and populate required delivery dates.
  • Follow-up on all open back orders in a timely manner and updater data accordingly.
  • Creates required documentation for returning parts to suppliers (i.e. cores, parts ordered in error, parts being returned for repair/warranty, etc).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent amount of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Five to seven years in a purchasing related function, Part 145 Repair Station/Aviation experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to focus on key tasks, prioritize duties, and manage multiple priorities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills are required.
  • Familiarization with the CORRIDOR operating system a plus.
  • Ability to follow oral & written instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
