The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will be an integral part of software development projects within the Data Management Department. The BSA reports directly to the Senior Manager, Data Management and will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. The BSA’s primary responsibilities include gathering project requirements, maintaining user stories (technical definitions for business processes), assisting in project planning, conducting thorough testing, and providing regular updates to stakeholders.


Key tasks:

  • Requirements Gathering:
    • Ensure all appropriate stakeholders are included to elicit and document detailed project requirements.
    • Analyze and prioritize requirements based on business objectives and project goals.
    • Ensure a clear understanding of business processes and user needs.
  • User Story Management
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive user stories that articulate business functionality within our applications.
    • Work closely with the development team to ensure a shared understanding of requirements.
    • Prioritize user stories based on project timelines and objectives.
  • Project Planning:
    • Assist in planning project tasks, timelines, and provide input on resource allocation.\
    • Collaborate with project stakeholders and development teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges in project execution.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and execute test plans to validate and document that project deliverables meet specified requirements.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure the quality of software releases.
    • Provide feedback to developers for continuous improvement.
  • Communications:
    • Regularly update project stakeholders on progress, challenges, timelines and milestones.
    • Assist in Identifying areas of concern to escalate to Summit management, contribute to issue resolution and ensure implementation of action plans.
    • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical team members.
    • Ensure transparency and alignment with project and company goals.
    • Assist with the development of department policies and procedures to include relevant training as it relates to BSA activities.
    • Participate in department and company process improvement initiatives and activities
    • Conduct internal metric tracking and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant, related professional experience.
  • Five years of proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst in a software development environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to plan, develop, and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be able to identify and take appropriate initiatives to fulfil the requirements of the role, and possess the ability to maintain a high level of productivity with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial management processes is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills (expert efficiency in Microsoft Office products e.g. Word, Excel Outlook and Power point).
  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps , Agile methodologies or related project management frameworks is highly desirable.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Browsers, and cloud-based enterprise solutions.


Specialized Training:

  • List any specialized training that is required to perform the role


Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance
