Position Summary

The purpose of the Fire Alarm Service Manager position is to provide oversight of the overall operations and financial performance for the fire alarm service department. Performs consistently as a subject matter expert, to achieve communicated objectives to include profitability, growth, and overall performance metrics.

This position has multiple direct reports including Field Technicians and Customer Service Representative(s). Indirect reports include centralized Billing Specialist(s) and/or Purchasing Specialist(s) located within the assigned area. Minimum Qualifications


Experience:

  • 5 years Fire Protection Industry experience
  • 2 years of professional computer skills (Typing 45 WPM, Intermediate ability in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • 2 years of Sales Experience
  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for achieving department objectives through enhancement and improvements of operations and sales
  • Responsible for selling installation and service.
  • Will be customer's primary contact for fire alarm service related needs
  • Oversight of the branch's fire alarm inspection & service
  • Responsible for the financial performance of assigned area
  • Communicate and strategize with management regarding financial progress, growth strategies, human capital requirements and regular or irregular needs of the department.
  • Ensure proper execution of internal workflow/paperwork, work in the field, quality assurance / quality control, and all work is performed in a safe manner within local, state federal guidelines.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels using company procedures and policies, in conjunction with Fire Suppression Manager and Human Resources.
  • Oversee proper use, maintenance, and repair of company assets including equipment, tools, supplies, and fleet in coordination with Fire Suppression Manager.
  • Manage work performed within assigned area including:
    1. Performance of spot checks of recent field inspections for the purpose of reviewing quality of services and customer satisfaction.
  • Performance of frequent ride-a-longs with field Technicians for the purpose of training and improve customer care, quality control, work efficiency, work safety, and product and service up-sales.
  • Review and track routes for each Technician and make adjustments when needed to approve route efficiency; train the CSR on how to schedule efficiently
  • Performance of monthly meetings with field staff: Safety Tool Box Talks
  • Oversee coordination and execution of inspections and service jobs in assigned area.
  • Ensure appropriate and necessary communication of schedules, product/material, information, coordination of work, etc. is achieved between Sales and Operations to allow for planning and scheduling
  • Review the Shop's material preparation, orders, job staging and tool preparation appropriate for job scheduling.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance and repair of FA service tools, equipment and fleet are achieved.
  • Promote and coordinate continuing education and certification of employees. Success Factors / Job Competencies

Physical Demands

  • Lengthy desk time of up to a full shift
  • Minimal lifting and pushing up to 50 lbs.
  • Continual use of a computer and computer screens up to a full shift
  • Regular bending, lifting, and twisting Working Conditions
  • Most regular work will be in an office setting.
  • Frequent visits to observe field work.
  • Office settings are mild to moderate temperatures.
  • Personnel will be assigned a workspace and proper equipment.
  • Travel conditions will vary. Essential Functions Non-Essential Functions
  • Must be able to effectively communicate via phone, email, and other non-personal manners.
  • Ability to perform lateral and assigned manager duties, as assigned.
  • Analyze data for data-driven decision making.
