What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Pharmacist position at Summit Medical Center?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains appropriate stock levels of drugs and supplies.
- Performs unit inspections.
- Verifies orders from providers, and intervenes when there are concerns, before distributing a drug.
- Maintains records of receipt, recall, and distribution of drugs.
- Prepares sterile and nonsterile products according to law and USP chapters.
- “Each pharmacist on duty shall be responsible for the security of the institutional pharmacy” WPA 12, Section 11, (c)
- Wears a badge including name and position whenever on duty.
- Provides drug information to internal and external customers.
- Offers training and education to hospital staff.
- Represents the pharmacy in hospital meetings as needed.
- Prepares for, and participates in, departmental meetings.
- Maintains smart pump databases.
- Maintains drug and order set databases in our hospital information system, MedHost.
- Maintains drug databases in our automated dispensing machines.
- Communicates directly (whenever possible) with individuals and departments in the facility.
- Initiates work orders and incident reports as needed.
