Office and Communications Manager
Summit Montessori School seeks an experienced office manager to coordinate the school’s front office and manage its internal and external communication systems for a position
beginning August 22, 2022. This is a year-round, fulltime position. Reporting to the Head of School, the Office and Communications Coordinator is an essential point of contact for many constituents in our community, including families, faculty and staff, and students. As such, the Office and Communications Coordinator is a welcoming presence prepared to handle a wide range of inquiries and requests in this public-facing position.
- Coordinating all communications to both internal and external audiences, ensuring consistency of messaging and brand integrity
- Managing the school’s front office and all relevant systems
- Assisting with the school’s marketing efforts through social media, web site updates, and other avenues
- Maintaining student record systems, including academic and attendance records
- Obtaining and placing substitute teachers as needed
- Creating and maintaining the school’s calendars
- Supporting the planning and implementation of a variety of school events
- Ordering supplies and materials as needed
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience working in a complex and dynamic environment while maintaining a high degree of organizational effectiveness, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Very strong computer skills, including high level of competency with Microsoft Office 360, Google drive, Google docs, and relational data bases
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Facile in use of social media

Elementary Music Teacher, Part Time
Summit Montessori School seeks an experienced Music Teacher to lead music classes for students from ages 6 through 12 and to further develop our school music program. The ideal candidate will be an energetic individual with experience leading choral activities, developing children’s music awareness and appreciation including work with musical instruments, and who understands the importance of integrating a diverse range of musical experiences into the learning lives of children. They will have experience in successfully guiding children of ages 6 through 12 in deepening their music expression and musicality.
Candidates must hold the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have experience teaching music to groups of elementary-aged students. Orff-Kodaly training is desirable, but not required. Learning Specialist/Coordinator for Support Services, Part Time
Summit Montessori School seeks an experienced Learning Specialist/Coordinator for Support Services for a position beginning August 29, 2022. This is a 2022-23 academic year position with a flexible schedule of approximately 20 hours per week.
The Learning Specialist/Coordinator for Support Services is responsible for coordinating support services for students, parents, and teachers as Summit Montessori strives to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. We expect the Learning Specialist to be active and involved in the school community. The Learning Specialist will ideally hold a Masters in Special Education; a background in counseling will be helpful. Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience working with preschoolers and elementary-aged students; prior knowledge of the Montessori philosophy is strongly preferred.
The Learning Specialist’s main responsibilities are:
Assist teachers in working with students with diverse learning styles and needs
Identify students needing organizational support and academic accommodations
Review psychological and cognitive testing completed by private specialists
In collaboration with the teaching teams, develop strategies to meet the needs of identified students
Coordinate meetings with families and teachers to discuss strategies and recommendations
Plan and implement professional development events for faculty regarding learning styles and meeting the needs of children with diverse learning needs
Offer occasional discussion groups with parents to share insights on effective communication, learning styles and learning differences
Organize and maintain a list of area resources (child psychologist, child occupational therapy services, speech-language services, etc.) to which our families may be referred
Develop child study team protocols and referral procedures
Conduct informal observations
Assist in developing and implementing learning support plans for students with diverse learning styles and needs
Administer and interpret informal assessments (DIBELS, QRI, WADE)
Monitor student progress in relation to child study team goals

Advancement Assistant
Responsibilities:
The part-time 25 hour/week Advancement Assistant position reports to the Director of Advancement and is responsible for coordinating and managing details regarding Summit Montessori’s development and admissions efforts, including the school’s ongoing capital fund raising campaign. Duties include:
Development and Capital Campaign Fund Raising:
- Work with the Steering Committee, Campaign Manager, Director of Development, Development Committee, and the Head of School to advance campaign strategies and sub-goals
- Assist in assuring that campaign communications and cultivation event activity plans are realized
- Assist in managing logistics for cultivation events
- Edit campaign communications
- Follow up and track communication of campaign stewards with prospects on the individual, corporate, and foundation levels
- Maintain pledge agreement records and track pledge fulfillment
- Maintain development database records and generate reports
Admissions:
- Assist in managing logistics for admissions visits
- Provide prospective families with building tours
- Maintain admissions database records and generate reports
- Draft and edit admissions/marketing communications
- Track admissions funnel progression
Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 2-5 years administrative or related experience, including a track record in managing events, database maintenance, and communications. Specific independent school experience is preferred but not required. The candidate will be computer proficient and willing to operate in a “hands-on” environment. They will have a strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and programs of the organization, and the ability to effectively convey that information. They will be a strong team player, with excellent organizational, relationship-building, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple demands in a rapidly changing environment. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed for special events.

Assistant Montessori Toddler Teacher
Summit Montessori School seeks an Assistant Toddler Teacher for a full-time position beginning August 22, 2022. The Toddler Assistant will support an experienced Lead Teacher in all aspects of organizing and facilitating a nurturing Montessori toddler environment in a new, state-of-the-art classroom which will open in fall, 2022.
The ideal candidate will have experience working as a toddler or early childhood teacher or assistant teacher, and will be adept at supporting the classroom systems (environmental preparation, record keeping, child observation) that underlie the functioning of a successful Montessori toddler classroom. The ideal candidate will delight in the very young child’s vigorous exploration of the environment and sense of discovery.
Candidates must have some toddler or early childhood classroom experience, preferably but not necessarily in a Montessori classroom. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated toward professional development, and able to work successfully and collaboratively in a team approach. This candidate will be energetic and able to meet the physical demands of working close to the ground with very young children. Successful candidates will be expected to engage in in-house training in order to prepare for the role of an Assistant Montessori Toddler Teacher.

EEC certification, particularly on the Toddler level, is ideal.
