Summit Public Schools is seeking a new Culinary Arts teacher to join the Family and Consumer Science department at Summit High School. The SHS Culinary Arts program includes courses in Foods/Nutrition, International Cuisine and Advanced Baking and serves over 200 students in grades 10-12 annually in a newly renovated kitchen suite with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. This is an ideal position for someone with a background in Culinary Arts and/or nutrition or who is looking to make a difference in the lives of young people through a program focused on developing important career and life skills. This position is available February 1, 2022.
DETAILS
- Teaches Foods I (Introductory Culinary course); International Cuisine; and Advanced Baking classes to students in grades 10-12
- 5 or 6 courses per semester
- Works closely with Family and Consumer Science department colleagues and supervisor on planning, curriculum, weekly grocery orders, and inventory.
- Helps coordinate visits by guest chefs, speakers, field trips, special events and unique educational experiences for Summit students
- Possibility to get involved with after school activities, create and expand program

QUALIFICATIONS
- Enthusiastic, dynamic teacher with strong communication skills
- Background / knowledge in Culinary Arts strongly preferred
- Comprehensive Family and Consumer Sciences or Foods/Nutrition and Food Science Certification preferred; however, Alternate Route candidates, new teachers, or CTE teachers are encouraged to apply.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
