Job Description: Summit Schools is actively seeking a full-time interventionist in math and literacy to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development in a safe, productive, and well-organized environment. This professional will also support teachers as they identify specific academic areas in need of more intensive remediation.
Parameters:
- Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and degree.
- Starting Date: Fall 2024 for the 2024/25 academic year
- Hours: Full-time, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, reflective, mature, emotionally intelligent, responsible, warm, creative, and energetic. Candidates are encouraged to have experience and training in elementary and middle school.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education .
- Iowa Teaching Certification required.
- Orton-Gillingham training preferred, or willingness to be trained.
- Experience as an educator in a progressive education program that integrates the arts and sciences and cultivates the whole child is encouraged.
- High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
- Strong verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.

- Attend seminars, trainings, classes, and professional development as needed to stay current with state and federal regulations.
- Dress appropriately for the position and work required.
- Maintain professionalism related to the confidentiality of student information.
Essential Functions:
- Instruct students in math and literacy as specified in state law and within the procedures of Summit Schools.
- Provide high quality individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Evaluate students’ academic growth, and maintain records of continuous monitoring, communicating findings to the primary teacher.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families in asserting and identifying best practices for students’ academic growth and development.
