What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Locator position at Summit Utility Services?
Locate Technicians have daily contact with utility managers and crews, homeowners, and contractors discussing locate issues and must work well with others. Oral and written communications skills are a must. Candidates must be able to prioritize their work load of located tickets to plan the most efficient routing. Candidates must also read and understand utility provided maps to assist in the location of underground utilities. A valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to pass a pre- employment drug screen are mandatory.
The majority of job time is spent in the field with all possible weather scenarios and field hazards. Candidate must be able to work weekends and evening as required by the work load. Occasional lifting up to 80 pounds is required. The ability to walk up to five miles a day is required. Candidates must be able to solve problems and work without constant supervision. Knowledge of underground utility construction preferred but not required. We provide training to all new hires regardless of prior experience.
These jobs are seasonal, roughly March to November.
Interviews to be held February 9-11, 2022. Training starts March 1, 2022.
