Position: Controller
Job Type: Full-time; Exempt;
Start Date: July 11, 2022, (Flexible if it’s the right candidate)
Hours: Minimum 45 Hours per week, Monday through Friday. Weekends as required.
Willingness to travel: Must be able to travel domestically and internationally without restrictions.
Work Authorization: Ability to work in the U.S. without any restrictions;
Work Location: Hybrid Remote in Washington, DC.
Education: Bachelor's in Accounting (Required) and Master’s in Accounting (Required);

Sun Africa LLC (“SA”) and UGT Renewables LLC (“UGTR”) are renewable energy companies based in Miami, FL., that have been developing projects since 2010. SA is responsible for the largest utility-scale solar PV installation in Sub-Saharan Africa, an achievement which has garnered international attention and in turn a rapid expansion across Africa (and now also Eurasia under the UGTR brand). SA and UGTR are seeking a controller who has excellent communication, technological, analytical and management skills. The ideal candidate would be someone with a passion for addressing climate change concerns, with 7 to 10 years of work experience, and senior management experience at a public accounting firm.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reorganize, consolidate, and adopt a centralized accounting function for the company
- Assessment and procurement of accounting software and integration with the banking system
- Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
- Coordinating activities of external auditors
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Create and manage the management and project budget and related processes
- Development and maintenance of P&L statements and cash flow forecasts
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
- Foster relationships with vendors, public accounting firms, banks, and government agencies
- Perform financial modeling for projects for the project team
- Participate, along with other senior staff in the structuring and arranging of financing for the project team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA)
