STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
Responsible for the overall management of the OB/GYN department. The OB/GYN DIRECTOR aids the Medical Director and CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER by providing clinical leadership. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop physician office, and call schedules for respective department.
- Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate OB/GYN Physicians, and mid-level OB/GYN Providers. Assist the manager in supervising medical assistants performance of OB/GYN medical tasks and skills.
- Examines patients, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis of disease, illness and injury and decides care plan, or follow-up procedures.
- Instruct nurses, medical assistants, back office assistants regarding assistance with patient care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- 2-5 Years experience in medicine, preferably in a group setting
- Ability to work effectively with as team player
- Ability to suggest and write policies and procedures specific to the OB/GYN department
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of a four-year undergraduate, 4 years Medical School, 1 year rotating Internship, 2 years Residency
- Board Certified OB/GYN M.D. or D.O. degree
- Current Arizona license
- Experience as a Chief of Obstetrics or Chief of Medical Staff
- Experience supervising, planning, assigning, and directing work of OB/GYN Providers and support staff
- Experience as a member or peer review committee, surgical care committee, or similar committees
- Administrative and Management experience
