Job Summary:
Retail Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the store in accordance with the camp-resort company policy while improving the commercial, performance of the store by increasing its turnover and maximizing profitability.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written venues
- Current certifications in First Aid/CPR and AED or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Personable, enjoy working with people.
- Possess excellent organization and project management skills, leadership skills as well as the ability to manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Possess exceptional guest relations skills
- Weekend hours are required
Essential Job Duties: (these duties include, but are not limited to)
- Managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency;
- Managing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control;
- Analyzing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes to maximize profits;
- Analyzing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning;
- Using information technology to record sales figures and for data analysis and forward planning;
- Dealing with staffing issues: interviewing potential staff; conducting appraisals and performance reviews; and providing or organizing training and development;
- Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met;
- Resolving health and safety, legal and security issues;
- Maintain health department regulations
- Responding to customer complaints and comments;
- Organizing special promotions, displays and events;
- Attend team meetings;
- Touring the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues;
- Maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives, and monitoring what local competitors are doing;
- Initiating changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can effectively meet its goals
Other Job Functions:
- Balancing the efficiency of all departments that operate in a campground store: Snack Bar, Check in, Reservations, etc.
- Promote store events and offerings to campers, before and during their stay, as well as to the community.
- Other job duties as assigned by general manager.
Physical Demands
This position is an extremely physically active position. Employee is regularly required to stand, walk and run. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions (hot and humid, rainy, extreme temperatures, airborne particles)
