What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Treater position at Sunbelt Forest?
Position Summary
The Treating Plant Operator is responsible for treating all wood products, mixing chemical treatments, operating treatment equipment, and treating inventory, as scheduled by the Treating Manager, while maintaining environmental and safety compliance.
Essential Functions/ Duties
- Work with a safety mindset
- Monitor and mix chemical treating solutions within variance tolerances
- Use appropriate formulas to calculate treating for every charge.
- Operate treating equipment: software, pumps, valves, etc.
- Monitor treating processes and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Property fill out paperwork
- Work with Quality Control technician to maintain product standards i.e. retention and penetration
- Perform appropriate cylinder washout procedures when changing treatments, while following all safety protocols.
- Maintain treating records.
- Endure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non compliant issues.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings as required.
- Other duties as directed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Able to read, understand and perform computer data entry of all related paperwork.
- Able to read and understand gauges and recording charts within the treating area.
- Able to pass the pesticide applicator certification exam.
- Successfully complete forklift driver licensing requirements.
- Understand basic math and numbers.
- Possesses sufficient physical strength to handle heavy mechanical equipment like cylinder doors.
