Summary of Responsibilities
- Oliver Equipment Company is seeking a Lead Mechanic for our Service and Repair Department.
- The ideal candidate for this job is reliable, responsible, driven, time-efficient, detail oriented, willing to learn and brings a positive, can-do attitude to the repair department daily. You will be required to multi-task, prioritize, communicate and work in a team environment. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. You will also be required to wear proper PPE daily and pass a drug screening test prior to starting.
- You will work closely with all members of the Service Department to deliver exceptional services and solutions.
- Must be able to demonstrate advanced mechanical and technical ability and product knowledge at a very high level. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with our customers by acting as a technical resource during customer on-site visitations. As a lead role within the service department, you will be expected to understand and be fully trained with both the technical and the commercial aspects of the internal job processes from beginning to end.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Disassemble and clean equipment according to assigned repair priority.
- At the direction of the team, prepare components for inspection.
- Maintain a clean work environment and shop floor.
- Organize work area and follow all safety guidelines.
- Read and contribute to mechanical inspection reports.
- Participate in regular Service Department meetings.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly safety meeting topics; research information on each topic and present at monthly service department safety meetings.
- Must be able to read and write with professionalism and clarity.
- Previous exposure to pumps and compressors is a plus but not a requirement.
- Training will be provided on the job.
- Ideal candidate must be able to use all hand tools, operate cranes, drive forklift and work independently with little supervision.
- Will be required to read and understand technical write ups, manufacturer’s data packages and bills of materials. Role will demand the ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
Technical duties in the shop will include
- Written documentation of condition of equipment during disassembly.
- Creating and documenting photographs of as found condition of parts during the disassembly process.
- Assisting the service technicians in disassembly when the shop workload demands and will take the lead during the assembly of any equipment when tasked.
- Written documentation and reporting during the inspection process, including working directly with the Technical Service Engineer to develop written and detailed root cause failure analysis reports. You will also assist in generating Performance test run sheets, manually log data taken during performance tests and generate performance test curves based on data taken during performance tests.
