POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller will manage, oversee, and efficiently organize the timely daily accounting functions of the company as well as the accounting team performing those functions. Primary duties for this role and requirements are as follows:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Develops, implements, and maintains accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Onboards new acquisitions and development projects, setting up of balance sheets/books and accruals for insurance and property taxes.
- Assists in the development of annual budget and forecasts; collaborates with other department heads to monitor budgets and identifies variances.
- Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting by supervising, supporting, and reviewing the accounting work of the staff accounting team and, to a lesser extent, performing the work oneself.
- Oversees cash management and cash controls, including frequent cash reconciliations.
- Ensures AP/AR activities are handled timely and according to company policy and procedure.
- Files monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with external auditors, lenders, and financial partners.
- Oversees financial systems implementations and upgrades.
- Identifies and manages business risks and insurance requirements. Recommends improvements to ensure the compliance and integrity of Reliant’s financial information.
- Analyzes operations for efficiencies to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.
- Works with the CFO and other members of senior leadership to coordinate planning and establish business priorities. Recommends financial benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Recruit, develop, train, and evaluate the staff accounting team to ensure the most optimal and cost-effective structure needed to accomplish the department’s goals.
- Periodically works with lenders to ensure reporting compliance, financial project completion, and adherence to loan terms.
- Prepares Ownership information required by lenders in a timely manner.
- Performs all other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required; Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is preferred.
- At least six years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and experience working with multi-entity organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Distinct organizational and management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Self-starter attitude; originates and develops constructive, creative ideas.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and business ethics with a strong sense of confidentiality.
- Proficient in accounting computer application systems, prior experience in working with Sage is a plus.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
