POSITION SUMMARY: We are a 46 year old manufacturer of high performance prismatic skylights and smoke vents that are used by many large building owners and retailers for passive solar daylighting their spaces. We are searching for an experienced Production Manager to join our team to lead our newly constructed manufacturing plant in Tallassee, Alabama. This role will supervise and lead the manufacturing staff; organize and monitor the workflow of day-to-day plant operations to ensure high-quality, on-time and on budget projects and products.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
▪ Collaborate and lead the organization as a member of our leadership team.
▪ Create and Implement performance improvement plans and corrective action plans.
▪ Development of subordinate’s skills. Teach, Mold and Mentor.
▪ Maintain accountability for all company code of conduct standards, operational and safety procedures.
▪ Lead and assist all shop operators under the direction of the VP of Operations.
▪ Plan, establish and execute work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and delivery deadlines. This includes written documentation that can be shared and communicated across the team.
▪ Coordinate with Leadership on staffing needs.
▪ Reading and interpreting engineering CAD designs, Bill of Materials, and technical specs.
▪ Maintain shop inventory systems such as raw materials and shop supplies.
▪ Distribute and manage fabrication drawings to the production floor.
▪ Coordinate with Inventory Control, Shipping & Receiving and purchasing to manage material and tools to keep projects and inventory builds on schedule.
▪ Forecast shop loads and future capacity.
▪ Participate in troubleshooting, evaluation/implementation of new techniques and processes.
▪ Ensure that the shop machines are in good and safe operating condition at all times through preventative maintenance; manage machine repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
▪ Ensure all product is manufactured to design and quality standards.
▪ Develop and perform quality control checks throughout the fabrication sequence. This would include Visual Examination and other Non-Destructive Examination practices.
▪ Understand and manage team to adhere to job budgets including estimated man hours, equipment and project costs.
▪ Relay all manufacturing feedback to engineering, sales, and support team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing or similar/related program. In lieu of degree, Trade School and/or Vocational Training in the Management of Blueprint Reading, Welding, Fabrication or equivalent work history.
Job Experience - To ensure success as a Manufacturing Production Manager, you should have advanced knowledge of industrial metalwork and/or plastics thermoforming with a knowledgeable eye for detail. Familiarity with TIG and Stick welding operations preferred.
Related - Prior experience working on thermoformed polycarbonate and architectural aluminum is a plus. AutoCad and Microsoft Project experience a plus.
EQUIPMENT USED:
▪ Computer
▪ Familiar with Welding, Elumatec saws / CNC, adhesive application, polycarbonate thermoforming, general hand tool applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
▪ Occasional elevated indoor temperatures associated with Southeastern USA weather and thermoforming operations at the plant.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL FUNCTIONS:
▪ Ability to use variety of tools and equipment
▪ Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
▪ Ability to read CAD designs and technical specifications
▪ Knowledge of industry safety practices
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
▪ Minimal lifting above 50 lbs.
▪ Ability to work in standing, squatting, or kneeling positions as well as reaching overhead with occasional twisting and bending
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Work schedules generally start 30 minutes before and ending 30 minutes after the manufacturing shift Monday through Friday (typically 8 hours) but may be revised based on job requirements. Such a schedule will be agreed upon by employee and the Company. This position is salaried. This position may also require from time to time the need to work unscheduled hours.
