JOB TITLE: Building Materials Estimator Intern

JOB LOCATION: Lindon, UT

SCHEDULE: Full Time during the summer, Part-time during the school year dependent on company needs and student's availability.

SUMMARY: Committed to learning the process of estimating and providing building material take off information.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

• Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
• Receive training to estimate building materials using CAD software.
• Generate and provide accurate material quantities for estimating purposes.
• Generate layout and/or location specific material needs for construction.
• Use Bistrack Software for tracking and processing take off and estimating information.
• Read and interpret architectural and structural plans.
• Visit onsite construction projects for training and development and to solve real life issues.
• Communicate and collaborate with sales department and project management on estimating projects.
• Interact and network with other professionals in the company.
• Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO DEVELOP

• Knowledge of building material estimating process.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
• Knowledge of current local codes associated with building material supplies.
• Demonstrate initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
• Analytical thinking skills and keen attention to detail, and proactive in pointing out potential issues.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work quickly and change direction as needed: responding to fast turnaround times a must.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Academic focus on Construction Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Facilities and Property Management preferred.
• Computer skills - Efficient with common software programs.
• Experience in residential/commercial construction industry a plus.
• Experience in material "take off" processes and software preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Sedentary work: extended periods of sitting.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
• Visit jobsites occasionally.
