POSITION TITLE: Director of Sexual Assault Services
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Chief Programs Officer (CPO)
POSITION OVERVIEW: Coordinates sexual assault programming for the agency, oversees sexual assault program implementation, provides direct services to survivors of sexual violence including (1) crisis counseling, (2) coordination of psychoeducational services designed to improve personal and family functioning, (3) completion of required assessments, development of treatment plans, maintenance of progress notes, etc., (4) maintenance of client records, ensuring proper chart order, clinical documentation and adherence to any billing requirements (if applicable) (5) and prevention. Participates in facilitating public awareness and community organizing activities. Ensures compliance with Sexual Assault Service contract deliverables and certification standards.
RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts with all agency staff and members of the outside community agencies. May work with interns and volunteers as assigned.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Provide crisis intervention services to underserved survivors of sexual violence based on individual needs. 10% SASP funding
- Coordinates services for survivors with other agencies in the community. 10% SASP funding
- Provides or arranges for legal advocacy for victims of sexual violence. 2% other funding
- Coordinates Sexual Assault Program for the agency, provides sexual assault training to staff (including but not limited to Advocacy Core Training/ACT), and ensures compliance with Sexual Assault Service contract deliverables and certification standards. 8% Other Funding
- Oversees Prevention Team and the implementation of program deliverables.
- Oversees SASP grant and the implementation of program deliverables 5% SASP funding
- Responsible for system coordination initiatives to include the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), and Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFE) on-call program. 5% other funding
- Responsible for community awareness initiatives intended to identify survivors of sexual assault. 8% other funding
- Provides services to primary and secondary victims of sexual violence (including their significant other, dependents, and non-offending family members or care givers), including psychosocial history taking, evaluation/testing, completion of treatment plan, in-person interviews with survivor/family members, collateral contacts (review documents/phone contacts/in person contacts), documentation of client related activity, report writing, discharge planning and linkage to supportive services, as needed. 20% Other funding
- Designs and implements psychoeducational and/or support groups for sexual assault survivors focusing on specific topics designed to address the trauma of victimization, improve participant and family functioning. Topics may include sexual trauma, parent skill development, positive communication and conflict resolution skills, with an emphasis on the unique needs of survivors dealing with sexual trauma and associated emotional or physical violence. Will be scheduled based on participant availability (most likely evenings). 5% Other funding
- Direct services to survivors may occur during in-person visits in the office, on location, or by phone.
- Enhance community response through professional community-wide coordination and training. opportunities. 5% SASP Funding
- Provides on-call support to accompany survivors of sexual assault to (Sexual Assault Forensic Exams) S.A.F.E. 2% other funding
- Participates in agency case staffing and grant deliverable review meetings to ensure consistency of service delivery and adherence to best practice standards. 5% SASP funding
- Maintains participant records in accordance with Sunrise’s requirements. 5% SASP funding
- Maintains and compiles statistics of participants served and completes reports as required by funding agency in a timely fashion. 5% SASP funding
- Represents agency’s sexual assault program in interactions with community partners with the goal of raising awareness about the availability of program services. 5% SASP funding
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO/CPO.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains active community involvement as it relates to services.
- Assists with event planning for community awareness and Sexual Assault Awareness Months.
PROHIBITED FUNCTIONS:
- Does not respond to media requests unless specifically required to do so by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field from an accredited college and licensure as a Mental health Counselor (LMHC), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or registration as a licensed eligible intern in one or more of the following areas: marriage and family therapy, social work, mental health counseling or psychology. Must meet requirements as specified in Florida law (FS 491: Clinical, Counseling and Psychotherapy Services).
- Minimum one (1) year post licensure experience in counseling or social work role providing individual, group and/or family counseling services strongly preferred. Experience in working with survivors of sexual trauma, physical or emotional abuse and their families strongly preferred.
- Knowledge about the principles of sound therapeutic practices with survivors of sexual violence, including working with the continuum of sexual violence services and must understand victimization and demonstrate practices sensitive to sexual violence issues in therapy.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in supervision of programs and personnel
- Knowledge of group facilitation.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with members of other agencies.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
- Must be able to organize, prioritize and use time efficiently.
- Must pass screening by FDLE and Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and current auto insurance.
- Maintain professional training hours.
- Must complete 30 hours of Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Core Training, including at least 2 hours of instructor led role plays, as well as at least 4 hours of on-the-job training, within 30 days of starting position.
- Eight (8) hours of ongoing sexual violence training is required annually.
- Must be able to work with a culturally diverse community with sensitivity and professionalism.
