Overview
The Sr. Field Service Technician is responsible for the management, scheduling, and completion of all service and warranty related work. Additionally, the Sr. Field Service Technician performs advanced troubleshooting and complex service diagnosis. This position is also responsible for training and developing other Field Service team members. The Field Service Technician must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the branch team. The Field Service Technician will interact closely with the Branch Manager, the Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Field Service Team.
Responsibilites
- Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule. Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with: modules, inverters, monitoring and balance of system components
- Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks including thorough documentation: complete roof leak checklist, photos and written observations
- Communicate with the Construction Supervisor, and Engineering Team members to resolve any redline issues
- Receive, update and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) with Service Dashboard in Salesforce
- Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and Associate Field Service Technicians. Serve as a subject matter expert by providing on the job training and up-training for the local field service team
- Lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices
- Support the on-boarding and training of new members of the field service team
- Regularly exceed defined goals for field service key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating and average dispatches completed
- Assist with other branch tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma is required
- Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license required
- Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards
- 3 years of previous field construction experience required with at least 1 year of experience as a service technician in the solar industry
- Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed
- PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred
- Proven track record of excellent customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Strong computer skills
- Ability to drive to multiple sites throughout the day. Must maintain a clean driving record with ability to pass driving background check. Must be 21 years of age to qualify as an authorized driver

- Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work
- Ability to interact with coworkers and participate in meetings
Physical Demands
- Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
- Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment
- Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
- Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
- Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching
