What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Planning and Manufacturing position at SUNSWEET GROWERS INC.?
This role reports to Vice President of Manufacturing with a strong dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer. The success of this position is based upon communicating financial information and manufacturing indicators. This role is foundational with a potential transition into the Head of Grower Accounting or Chief Financial Officer.
- Monthly Operations Reporting
- Conduct monthly review meetings with operations department heads.
- Provide direct labor analysis comparing standard usage and dollars to actual usage and dollars for each cost center.
- Provide Cost Center variance reporting and analysis.
- Provide usage reporting and yield analysis.
- Provide periodic manufacturing and PPV analysis.
- Perform Ad hoc costing analysis and costing of products.
- Company Wide Budgeting and Forecasting
- Build a planning and analysis team.
- Manage quarterly and annual Planning and Budget meetings.
- Develop presentations for the board presenting company results and forecasts.
- Inventory Management
- Manage recording of consumption, receipt and transfer of inventory
- Manage implementation of new products.
- Review bill of materials.
- Manage year end physical inventory
- Direct Labor reporting
- Determine standard labor rates for all job codes.
- Review work order labor postings for accuracy.
- Review labor routings for accuracy.
- Assist with union contract negotiations.
- Financial Analysis & Audit
- Determine cash flow, NPV, IRR and payback period for capital investments.
- Provide comparative analysis on co-pack versus internal production costs.
- Assist with monthly COGS and balance sheet variance analysis
- Provide annual audit inventory reports
- Provide Annual inventory reports for tax purposes.
- Provide updated transferred price worksheet, calculation, and related accounting entries
- Update standard costs for copack and Chilean business.
- Customer Co-pack Management
- Determine appropriate co-pack fee for new co-pack customers. Review process requirements (labor staffing / through put) and supplied materials.
- Determine system requirements for material transactions/ COGS postings and sales processing.
- Vendor Co-Pack Management
- Review and approve vender co-pack fees
- Provide vender analysis regarding yield and comparative pack fees as required.
- Determine system requirements and inventory processes.
- Systems
- The company is converting to SAP/Hana in 2023. This role will be responsible for managing the transition for the accounting area within the manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Planning system experience with sophisticated ERP systems such as Adaptive Insights, Microsoft Dynamics, or SAP
- Minimum of 15 years experience in manufacturing or agricultural environment
- Business intelligence experience
- Preferred: MBA or CPA
