Hiring Goal

As a closely-held, family-owned company we have mostly had an informal but very successful sales team.  This year we have invested in capturing and formalizing our best practices and developing great sales training.  Our next steps will include developing and formalizing our product training.

Our ideal Sales Director will take the lead in building a high-performing sales culture.  This will include hiring and developing team members and sales managers and creating cultural touchpoints for high standards and accountability.  This is a great opportunity for the right person to build a team in their image, with drive, passion, problem-solving, and taking action along with excellent customer service and high integrity. We imagine our ideal candidate to be confident in their ability to lead a B2C sales team, dealing with an extended sales cycle that includes several variables and team members.

The Sales Director needs to be good at and enjoy building productive relationships with all parties as our sales are highly collaborative with multiple parties inside the organization. Additionally, the best candidate will have a natural drive and competitive spirit, be action-oriented, and a problem solver who likes figuring out the puzzle and getting the deal done.  Our customers are general contractors, final owners, and some architects.  You should be excited, as we are, to work with and serve these extraordinary people. 

At this stage of our team development, our sales director will easily step into any part of the process to help qualify a potential customer, move deals through our internal system, or close a deal.  This will, at times, be a hands-on role as the team becomes better established and continues to grow.

Specifically, we are looking for someone with experience operating in-between established formal processes of large corporations and the informality and tribal knowledge of smaller companies.  A critical part of this role will be to help us continue to formalize and operationalize our sales process and to help us scale as we continue to grow.  

ROLE OVERVIEW

Sales Management 95%

  • Experience in selling customizable products with extended sales cycles.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate an inside sales team to ensure maximum performance and productivity with a demonstrated ability to build and grow the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accountability by setting clear and defined expectations and holding individuals responsible for their actions.
  • Must possess a strong problem-solving mentality and thrive in environments where processes are still in development and adept in identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Ability to demonstrate success in scaling sales teams, whether it is expanding existing teams or building new ones from the ground up. You understand the intricacies involved in scaling operations and have the leadership skills to navigate through growth phases effectively.
  • Keen eye for identifying top talent and not afraid to make tough decisions when it comes to managing the performance of the team.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated, requiring minimal supervision to excel by having an intrinsic drive and determination to push yourself to continuously seek improvement and achieve results.
  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to enhance the skills of the sales team.

Business Strategy 5%

  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, product development, and customer service, to ensure alignment and synergy across the organization.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities for business growth. Stay informed with industry trends, competitors, and market conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, key clients, and stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve sales processes, and procedures systems to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Setting and achieving sales targets by developing and implementing strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed company revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop and execute effective sales strategies that align with company goals, objectives, and values.
  • Track sales performance metrics, analyze data, and prepare regular reports for senior leadership.

Qualifications


About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 7 years of proven track record of success in sales leadership within a fast-paced, growing company with the ability to scale a sales team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of success in the sales cycle from plan to close
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Experience with (CRM) customer relationship management
  • Experience with ERP, preferred but not required
