          Job Summary: The ECMO Specialist, along with the ICU nurse or an ECMO trained nurse, will provide care throughout the course of ECMO therapy. Their role is to: (1) manage patient-circuit interaction with the clinical needs of the patient, (2) ensure the safety of the ECMO circuit through continuous surveillance, assessment, and troubleshooting, and (3) prevent and manage circuit emergencies. The ECMO Specialist will prepare patient case studies for review at the ECMO Steering committee. The ECMO Specialist will be asked to conduct educational lab sessions required for simulation and ongoing training. Minimum Qualifications:

          Associates degree in Respiratory or Nursing required. NYS licensed (or eligible) RN or Respiratory Therapist license required. A minimum of two years of ICU experience and one year of ECMO experience required. CPR-BLS successfully completed before hire.

          Preferred Qualifications:

          Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory or Nursing preferred.

          Work Days:

          Rotating shifts, every other weekend
