What are the responsibilities and job description for the Second Shift Production Manager position at Superior Ag?
Job Summary:
The Second Shift Production Manager position provides management of production, ensuring control and development of people and production functions. This position will be second shift with training on day shift.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the production of feed to ensure all processes are running efficiently
- Manufacture feed according to ration, production schedule requirements and the State Chemist, FDA, FSMA compliance and Superior Ag Feed production and sequencing requirements.
- Schedule feed delivery to accommodate feed production.
- Bag feed as needed for floor stock or retail demand.
- Occasionally deliver bagged or bulk feed when needed.
- Notify supervisor of any manufacturing problems.
- Complete all reports as required, including safety protocol and FSMA documentation.
- Participate in selection and training new employees
- Coordinate maintenance with Feed Facility Manager.
- Order and record all bulk feed ingredients according to State Chemist, FDA, and Superior Ag policy.
- Inform the Feed Facility Manager of any quality or quantity concerns.
- Retain samples of feed ingredients and finished feed according to State Chemist, FDA, and Superior Ag Feed policy.
- Perform housekeeping and routine maintenance and complete necessary records.
- Manage warehouse inventories for freshness and efficiency.
- Read and follow company employee policies.
- Accept additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This job is responsible for over-seeing and directing the work of the truck driver and production workers.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be reliable
- Pelleting experience preferred, but not required
- Forklift experience preferred, but not required
- Strong communication and people skills

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Pelleting experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Ability to solve practical problems
Physical Demands:
- Be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
