POSITION SUMMARYUnder the direction of a Court Services Manager or the Court Calendar Coordinator, the Jury Coordinator plans and coordinates jury services related to the selection, qualification, summons, orientation, and assignment of jurors to the Superior Court; prepares financial and statistical reports and records including juror payroll claims; operates a computerized jury management system; and performs related duties as required.This position has extensive public contact with individuals of diverse, socio-economic backgrounds. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis single position class requires a wide knowledge of the functions of the Superior Court. The Jury Coordinator exercises considerable independent judgment and discretion in the performance of his/her duties and is responsible for ensuring adequate and timely processing of jury panels.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Obtains and updates lists of prospective jurors from the County Clerk and Department of Motor Vehicles; prepares and mails summons for jury duty; responds to requests of prospective jurors to be excused from jury duty; responds to other questions pertaining to jury duty; processes jurors who fail to appear for jury service; prepares juror orders to show cause; updates jury information system.Monitors status of jury trials to ensure panels are properly supplied; prepares claims for juror fees and mileage; confers with bench officers and attorneys or litigants and Court personnel regarding jury needs. Plans and conducts jury orientations, including speaking to large groups of prospective jurors; obtains personal data; converses with members of the public and represents the court as a positive role model.Oversees the maintenance of the bench officers' libraries ensuring that research materials are current and new publications are ordered when requested and approved. Ensures insert supplements or updates are processed when received and publishers' billings are timely processed for payment.May assist the manager with daily work direction to unit staff to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in conformance with Court policies and procedures.Assists in planning and conducting staff training on technical and procedural aspects of unit functions.
