What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Supplemental Staffing?
Our client in the Taylor, MI area is in need of a 1st shift supervisor and a 2nd shift supervisor for their facility. This is a direct hire position, not a contract or temporary assignment. Our client fulfills custom interior orders for the automotive industry (seats, head rests, consoles, etc...). Looking for the below experience and qualifications.
Minimum Training, Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working in a manufacturing environment supporting operations, production, quality and maintenance
- Minimum 3 years supervising production employees
- Experience with ISO 9001 industry standards
- Ability to set-up, maintain and repair production and facility equipment
- Understanding of the production process and material flow
- Knowledge and practice of MIOSHA health and safety standards
- Forklift experience required
- Computer experience including Ladder Logic, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with moving existing production lines
- Development and set up of production lines for new products including line layout, identification of labor, and equipment requirements
- Maintain knowledge of all production equipment and be prepared to troubleshoot production issues
- Work with quality and production to train operators and achieve training sign off for required processes
- Build and develop concept gauges, fixtures, and other machinery for new and existing production lines
- Use instruments to take measurements, perform tests, log and report results to management
- Assist in writing work instructions and equipment set-up instructions
- Assist with customer PTRs (part trial run) and proto-type builds and identify process improvements
- Record, understand, and interpret production and quality data and post results in plants
- Participate in line meetings and assist with closing open issues identified during the meetings
- Participate in the development and preservation of ISO 9001 procedures, policies, and forms
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Represent Great Lakes Trim at customer plants
- Work with Manufacturing Manager and Operations to schedule and plan production
- Ensure assembly lines meet production goals and do not exceed scrap allowance
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues
- Support 5S initiative
- Aid in material scrap reduction
- Inventory finished goods and raw material
- Oversee tool changes
- Communicate production issues daily with Supervisor and work to resolve
- Participate in Operations Open Issues and complete action items as assigned
- Ensure plant and equipment is maintained and in good working order
- Complete daily production and quality documentation
- Report tardiness, absenteeism or vacation relating to hourly staff to supervisor
- Provide input for and assist with annual employee reviews
- Identify safety issues and work to correct
- Perform maintenance on equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment throughout production day as needed
- Work to develop patterns and continuous improvement of the kuris
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Delegate, communicate, meet with employees to resolve issues, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
