What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Supplier Management Solutions, LLC?
Under general supervision and reporting to the Controller of the parent company the Assistant Controller is responsible for directing and interpreting financial report preparation and supervision of accounting methods that are utilized by the company. The Controller ensures accurate and timely preparation of the income statements, balance sheets, and projections of earnings and expenses of the organization, as well as the monitoring and implementation of internal procedures and controls. This position is based in Carlsbad CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manages all accounting functions and submits reports to Controller at parent company
- Manages AR, AP, GL and fixed assets activities and operations
- Ensures business transactions are in compliance with GAAP, IRS and other regulatory requirements and company policies
- Manages project and cost accounting functions, month-end and year-end closing activities, invoice generation, and maintenance of accounting operations records
- Provides necessary authorizations, expertise, guidance and assistance to company personnel and external customers
- Develops and recommends revisions and improvements to department guidelines and pertinent company accounting policies and procedures
- Maintains & manages contracts, loans and other databases that interface with the general ledger
- Helps ensure that the company’s assets are safeguarded through sound internal controls, risk management & best practices
- Manages the production of budgets, including preparing quarterly budget to actual reports for management and departmental review
- Interprets budget data and makes recommendations to department heads
- Coordinates with HR to fund domestic and international payroll accounts, print manual checks as needed and post payrolls to GL
- Manages expense reimbursement process
- Provides financial analysis and support to local management team
- Other duties as assigned

- Operations of standard spreadsheet software
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting Applications a plus

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field; and minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Any equivalent combination of experience and education that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered when filling the position.
