TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director, Volunteer and Transportation Services
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, non-exempt
SUMMARY
Volunteers are the strength behind this grassroots community nonprofit organization. The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the administrative team and interfaces with all organizational programs and services. This individual is responsible for all functions associated with Surrey’s Volunteer Program including but not limited to, volunteer recruitment, onboarding, management and outreach. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for fostering and supporting a strong sense of Surrey’s mission and ensuring that their experience is a positive one that provides each volunteer with a sense of meaning , purpose, and joy.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Communicate the Surrey mission and culture to staff, members, and volunteers
· Supervise volunteers
· Market, recruit, screen and train volunteers
· Maintain up to date program materials for volunteer recruitment, orientation and training
· Maintain volunteer records
· Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training, and orientation sessions
· Match volunteers with roles suited to their skills and interests
· Maintain a database to track volunteer engagement and progress
· Foster positive relationships with volunteers through support and recognition
· Organize volunteer appreciation events and activities
· Collaborate with team members to ensure volunteer integration across programs
· Evaluate and assess volunteer programs for continuous improvement
· Attend meetings and training as necessary and integrate new knowledge and skill into position
· Coordinate the Driver Escort Program process
Key Areas of Focus:
· Volunteer recruitment, coordination, management, assignment and administration: Implement a cohesive volunteer program across all departments, ensuring volunteers have a positive, impactful, and meaningful experience.
· Volunteer technology: Explore and implement technological solutions to enhance volunteer recruitment and management processes.
· Ambassador Program: Building and sustaining an Ambassador Program that engages key volunteers and community members as advocates and supporters.
· Group Volunteer Opportunities: Identify group volunteer projects that support programs, services, and our members. Recruit and engage corporate teams, local businesses, community organizations and associations, college and high school students, and more volunteer opportunities through a structured program.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Above average knowledge of:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage, energize, and motivate volunteers.
· Strong written communication skills
· Volunteer management
· Ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem solve
· Well organized, able to multitask, and have excellent computer skills
· Team player willing to assist other staff members with tasks outside of their own responsibilities
· Passion for community engagement
· Able to create, maintain, and update various Microsoft products including Excel
REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS
· Bachelor’s degree or previous experience in relevant field
· Must be a licensed driver
· Ability to lift 20 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $46,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
