Directional Drill Locator

SUSCO, LLC is seeking a Locator to support our Lowellville, OH operations.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to plan and execute directional drilling operations for fiber optic installation projects.
• Interpret project plans and locate the optimal drilling paths, ensuring minimal disruption to existing infrastructure.
• Operate advanced locating equipment to accurately identify existing utilities and underground obstacles.
• Provide on-site supervision and guidance to drill operators, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications.
• Conduct pre-drilling site surveys to assess ground conditions and identify potential risks or challenges.
• Monitor drilling progress and make real-time adjustments to drilling angles, depths, and trajectories as necessary.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to directional drilling equipment and locating devices.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of drilling operations, including as-built drawings, locates, and site reports.
• Collaborate with utility companies, contractors, and local authorities to obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to directional drilling and fiber optic installation.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or vocational training in directional drilling or related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Directional Drill Locator, preferably in fiber optic installation or telecommunications projects.
• Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting directional drilling equipment and locating devices.
• Strong knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and the ability to interpret utility maps and plans.
• Excellent understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to directional drilling and excavation work.
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adjust drilling parameters based on site conditions.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
