Title: Food Program Coordinator

Supervised by: The Executive Director

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Food Program Coordinator

Food Program Coordinator

This position will receive food, order supplies, maintain food safety, manage food distribution, record meals served, and maintain cleanliness and record keeping following food safety regulations and the York County Area Agency on Agingdirectives.

This position requires good communication, people skills, patience, and the ability to work with and recruit volunteers. Be willing to conduct other responsibilities as assigned.

Meals are delivered ready to serve and ordered daily; the position oversees all food distribution; limited food preparation is required for special days and events; food safety training is provided within 30 days of employment; an acceptable background check is required, and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record required at time of hiring.

Hours: 8:30 am to 11:30 pm, to be discussed, Monday through Friday with availability needed for special events, some evenings and weekends to assist with programs and trips.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of kitchen volunteers
  • Support role as needed.

3. Notify essential contacts in the event of center closures, able to use One-Call.

  • Maintain the HDM program
  • Schedule HDM drivers and coordinate routes using Copilot & or excel.
  • Establish and maintain community partnerships in correlation with the HDM program
  • Notify YCAAA of any HDM issues (status changes, undelivered, etc.)
  • Coordinate and maintain the congregate lunch program
  • Ordering
  • Setup/Serve/Clean
  • Maintain kitchen equipment logs
  • General Housekeeping
  • Coordinate the Commodities programs
  • Setup and distribution of commodities
  • Regulate and organize pantry
  • Monitor refrigerator, freezer and storage temperatures as required
  • Print out necessary forms and verify completion of forms
  • Maintain daily totals and enter information into the Copilot systems.
  • Assist with the creation, scheduling, and coordination of events (facility usage)
  • Recruit participants and volunteers
  • Conduct necessary surveys for informational purposes.
  • Coordinate with necessary event contacts, information necessary to have an event.
  • Maintain member intake information and relay this information to the YCAAA.
  • Input daily data into the YCAAA Reporting Tool
  • Contribute monthly to the newsletter, editing, printing, and distribution.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Comply with all food safety regulations.
  • Ensure food safety with knowledge of proper sanitization.
  • Understand the special needs and problems of the aging population in our area.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Support Meals on Wheels program and deliver meals as needed.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to document, organize, and schedule meals, supplies, etc.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within 30-days of hire
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, senior members, volunteers, related agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma or GED (plus experience)

2. Computer experience

3. Experience with organizing and scheduling

4. Must pass PA criminal background check

5. Must have CPR and First Aid certification, or be willing to obtain during the first 3 months of employment

6. Acquire 12 hours of approved training per year, as required by the YCAAA

Work is not remote.
