Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving workforce productivity and work quality for their assigned area of responsibility through planning, purchasing, scheduling, and coordination of mechanics, parts, material, and equipment access. This position is the principal contact and liaison between maintenance and the operating department they support.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety policies.
  • Utilizes the CMMS System to complete daily workloads and work orders.
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement process.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions and expedites delivery of products and services.
  • Prioritize, schedule and coordinate daily maintenance activities in assigned areas.
  • Research, plan, and prioritize work requests.
  • Provides interface between Maintenance Team, operation personnel and outside resources.
  • Communicates problems or changes in department to supervisor and appropriate personnel in timely manner.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Orders necessary and correct repair materials for work requests.
  • Tracks ordered materials and is aware of inventory levels at all times.
  • Work with plant operations to coordinate scheduling or plant shutdowns for maintenance work completion.
  • Demonstrate project management ownership of maintenance projects
  • Accurately and consistently load spare parts for capital projects into SAP
  • Provide accurate estimated time and costs for planning purposes.
  • Demonstrate high level of self-management
  • Thorough understanding and participation in MDI (Manage Daily Improvement)
  • Champions solutions to problems that improves department performance.
  • Possesses good communication skills to report to the supervisor and communicate appropriately with others, including those involved in on-the-job training functions.
  • Communicates with supervisors, operators, and Maintenance Team to determine deficiency in equipment operation and determine corrective actions
  • Communicates any problems or changes in working environment to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs assigned tasks in a manner that does not endanger the environment and adheres to company and regulatory standards.
  • Actively participates in the continuous improvement process, such as MCE events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Required Qualifications

Completion of one year towards an Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 5-7 years' related experience/training; combination of education and experience.

Strong computer background including CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Windows

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of SAP, is desired
  • Working in a Food Processing Environment is desired
  • Hand tool experience.
  • Machine Shop Knowledge Helpful.
  • Advanced Problem-Solving Skills.
