Position Description

 

This position is for Academic Education and will be assigned to a region. The successful applicant will spend approximately 80% of the week inside facilities. This position is responsible for:

 

o   Managing a graduation and transition plan for students who qualify as federally funded students (per DOE guidelines - must be 17 – 21 years old, must not have completed a high school equivalency)

o   Communicating with facility care and treatment staff to ensure that students are enrolled in academic education, including conducting routine site visits as well as assisting with data entry, as needed

o   Communicating with facility staff care and treatment staff well as other Inmate Services units to coordinate schedules to allow students to participate in programs concurrently (rather than being taken out of education for RSAT, recreation, etc.), including conducting routine site visits

o   Communicating with Facility Leadership, Instructional Coaches, AcEd and CTHE Education Program Specialists, Social Services Program Consultants as well as individuals from all other departments (mental health, health services, ADA, etc.) to address student needs that are associated with academic success – social/economic development, attendance, setting goals for future education and employment – and to coordinate admission into appropriate programs to meet those needs

o   Communicating with Offender Administration to assist in placement for programming needs once the student has completed a high school equivalency (GED and/or charter school

o   Maintaining weekly and monthly average daily attendance spreadsheets

o   Maintaining GED data spreadsheet with goal of monitoring student growth and achievement by facility, region, state

o   Assisting Academic Education Director in coordinating FTE, Student Record, Title I-A, and Title I-D counts annually (data entry, as needed)

o   Assisting Academic Education Director in designing and implementing School Improvement Plan with emphasis on qualifying students

o   Coordinating and participating in appropriate professional learning related to student academic growth in targeted areas

o   Coordinating and participating in facility program recruitment initiatives

o   Coordinating with facilities to create education incentive programs

o   Conducting meetings with students who have dropped out of the education program, as appropriate, to resolve issues for re-enrolling

o   Other duties as assigned

Comments: This Position will be for the Southwest Region of Georgia.
