What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems / Cert Engineer position at Swarm Aero?
Swarm Aero is building the largest UAV swarm in the world and the only Group 5 UAV swarm. This long-range, low-cost UAV is designed to endure near hotspots in Europe and Asia, keeping democracies free by making it impractical to invade & occupy free people.

Our team has serial entrepreneurs, technologists, and military veterans that have built cutting edge AI, closed billions in tech deals involving DOD, crafted software including platforms supporting millions of users, and scaled global ultra-low latency trading operations.
As the Founding Systems/Cert engineer at Swarm Aero, you will create the process, modeling, analysis and testing procedures that will help us design and build a new class of aircraft. You’ll help craft our certification approach as well as implement Model-Based Systems Engineering processes to help us truly create a modern aircraft development process
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Work with the aircraft design team, regulators and other experts to tailor a certification plan to our unique aircraft application
- In conjunction with the Chief Engineer, design and implement an ARPXXX-compliant aircraft development process that’s agile and tailored to our needs as a startups
- Stand up modeling and simulation tools to enable a true digital twin-aided test and certification process
- Build our Systems Safety Analysis process to refine aircraft and systems design
WHAT YOU’VE DONE:
- Graduated with an Engineering Degree or gained relevant experience
- 4 years of experience in working with complex integrated systems
- Been a part of an aircraft civil or DOD certification effort
- Worked with a MBSE process
WHAT SETS YOU APART:
- Experience in tailoring MIL-HDBK-516 for novel systems
- Experience in creating an MBSE approach to aircraft design, build, and creaing a digital twin
- Development of an ARP 4754A, MIL-STD-499, IEEE 1220, or similar process to design and certify a complex system
