What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mammographer position at Swedish American?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs all mammography examinations and procedures including patient assessment and education. Performs quality control checks and general clerical and record keeping functions. Creates and prepares clinical diagnostic x-ray images as directed by physician, utilizing radiologic equipment. Tracks exam to correct status in Client Server. Enters appropriate history and verifies correct images on the PACS. Performs selected cross-trained skills and procedures including general radiography, phlebotomy, rooming of patients and EKG’s, enters and retrieves patient information, demographics and test results from computer. Specimen screening, collection and test performance. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Completion of accredited Radiologic Technologist program. At least two years experience as a radiographer. One year mammography experience preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current license from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and mammography (within 90 days). Bi-annual CPR certification by recommended renewal date.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Knowledge of anatomy, pathology and physiology of the breast. Ability to establish effective working relationships and clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.
