Job Description:
- This is a Roku Technical Lead position within our Telecom Client's News & Sports team.
- Maintains expert-level knowledge of the Roku platform and Bright script.
- Leads and mentors a team of Bright script/Roku Engineers to launch new features within and maintain a high-performing News Roku application.
- Translates user requirements into software design, creates architectural specifications, and ensures feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems and platforms.
- Delivers documentation and diagrams that translate complex technical problems into digestible visualizations/write-ups.
- Works closely with cross-platform architects to maintain and drive a unified architectural vision.
- Reviews business requirements, identifies risks, and provides estimates.
- Establishes and implements development best practices.
- Designs and assists with the implementation of a CI/CD that enables rapid and on-demand delivery.
- Helps to drive a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working culture.
- Works closely with the Connected Devices Director to influence resourcing and technical direction while driving innovation.
- Experience with direct team leadership is nice to have but not required.
- A successful candidate may have more background in architecture than leadership, or vice-versa.
Required:
- Level IV: Minimum 8 years’ experience designing or configuring software applications. Minimum of 4 years working with Bright script & Roku.
Responsibilities:
- Candidates with Video experience will be considered.
- Connected TV (SamsungTV, LG, FireTV, Xbox, etc.)
- Streaming services
- IP Video/STB (set top boxes)
- Basically, anything working with video streams, DRM, ad insertion, etc.
- Candidates need to have strong architectural experience in their background.
- Candidates should have experience in a variety of languages.
- Nothing extremely specific here, but examples: C , JavaScript.
- Experience in systems with hardware constraints and performance limitations.
- Candidate needs to be eager and willing to learn the Roku hardware and development language – a platform which has over 60 million active users and will help us reach many customers on the Charter side.

Top Skills:
- Experienced with Roku and Bright script, if no experience, willingness to learn and take on Roku project and become SME.
- Architecture experience- can speak architecture within team and guide.
- Must have a background in a variety of programming languages such as C , JavaScript, Web Development etc.
- Video streaming experience- examples could include: Starz, HBO, Netflix, Showtime, IP Video, Set top boxes etc.
Remote or flex: Flex- Hybrid- 3 days in office 2 days remote.
