Team Leader

Swim-in Zone’s Team Leaders are Swim-in Zone’s on-deck supervisors. They are responsible for what happens on the deck, in the party room, and in the swim classes during their shift. They are another pair of eyes and an on-deck helper for the instructors. They must be ready to enter the pool and teach a class or lifeguard whenever an instructor or lifeguard is late, does not show up for their shift, or must leave for sickness or family emergency. Team leaders need to be actively involved in the activities/lessons going on in the pool area. They should not be sitting or spending time at the front desk.  

Duties: Directed toward the smooth running of swim school during the shift within the pool area.   

• Maintain safety and procedures (see safety training and materials) 
• Act as deck supervisor during your shift 

• Assisting with classes, instructors, aides, and lifeguards as needed 

• Assist with the classes and curriculum 

• Providing guidance and assistance to instructors as needed 
• Utilizing the skill of the week and providing set up and other assistance as needed each shift 

• Maintain Team Leader notebook for every shift 
• Maintain absences and updating levels in SwimWare during shift  
• Supervise students and their needs 

• Including transition of classes and any incidents that may arise  

• Maintain teacher reports and level sheets of instructors during your shift 
• Supervise level sheets during your shift 
• Provide direction and assistance for make-up classes and make-up students 
• Ability to communicate any information, professionally and appropriately, to parents 

• Be aware of any students during your shift who have a special need and what that special need is. Help as necessary 
• Recommend strikes or consequences to managers 
• Take care of emergencies and notify management 

• Filling out incident reports and closing of pool for accidents 

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent  
• Experience as an instructor at SIZ for 6 months and thoroughly trained in all aspects of SIZ swim school and have experience in a supervisory capacity. 
• Be trained and efficient in use of SwimWare  

• Must be lifeguard certified as a Red Cross Shallow Water Guard or Deep-Water Guard and up to date on all CPR/AED, FA, BBP, and SIZ Emergency Action Plan 
• Must maintain clearances, certifications, and yearly trainings with Swim-in Zone 
• Must agree to teach swimming classes to children at Swim-in Zone 4-6 hours/week in addition to 12 hours spent as team leader.  
• Must be able to talk to parents and staff pleasantly, knowledgeably, courteously and with respect

Swim-in Zone is a family-owned business who has been the Leader in Water Safety in the Lehigh Valley for 18 years. Our building was constructed especially for children's swim lessons - our pool is only 5' deep but has three 25 yd lanes and specially constructed steps and ledges to make the children feel comfortable and safe. The pool is always warm (88 degrees!) to encourage and motivate children. Swim-inStructors are specially trained in our curriculum so that we all teach using the same terms. We are constantly changing and mixing things up to provide the best lessons possible for the children, but our customer service is our most important component.
