What are the responsibilities and job description for the PAINTER position at Sycuan Casino?
The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.
Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.

- Paints facilities by cleaning and preparing surfaces for paint application, mixing paints according to established procedure, and applying paint to surfaces with an appropriate tool(s).
- Maintains safe and sanitary work and storage areas by setting-up scaffolding and ladders securely, cleaning tools and equipment after use, and storing materials according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- 4 years of vocational painting experience
- Certificate of training as a journey worker
- Exposure to related trades such as carpentry or construction
- Exposure to the casino, hospitality, and/or hotel industry
- Working knowledge of painting techniques including faux artistry
- Ability to identify and mix paints
- Ability to use painting tools and equipment
- Ability to work from blueprints and schematics and/or verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work from heights including ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
- Ability to reach, crouch, and bend
- Ability to document assignments in a shop log or through a work order system
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to work in a smoking environment
- Ability to appear for work on time
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and measurements
- Ability to interact effectively with guests and team members
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
- Ability to accept constructive criticism
