What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper Level Math Teacher position at Sylvan Learning Center?
Middle/High School Math Teachers Wanted for Personalized After-School Tutoring! Sylvan Learning Center is looking for energetic, dedicated teachers to teach math content and inspire students towards mathematical success. Sylvan seeks teachers proficient with upper elementary through Algebra 2, or beyond.
The teacher’s role is to implement the targeted lesson plan and provide gradual release direct instruction. Our center supports all levels of math, elementary thru upper level; your personal strengths and expertise will be matched with student needs. You do not have to plan lessons or reports – just teach! You will also play a key role in motivating and connecting with each student, so they feel inspired to learn.
What you should know:
• For most students, you will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach. Some students seek help with a homework task
• You will normally have two to three students; each student has an individualized lesson plan.
• Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week; starting as early as 3:30 and running through 7:30 pm
• Instruction occurs on Monday – Thursday afternoons, and Saturday mornings.
• Work is done in-center; rarely are lessons delivered virtually.
Job Requirements:
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is expected, preferably in a math or related field.
• You must enjoy teaching, working, and inspiring students. (Happy teachers make for happy students.)
• You must be local and have reliable transportation. Reliability and punctuality is expected.
• Teaching Certificate preferred and/or related experience
