POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Operator works under the supervision of the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, or Operations Manager. Individual is responsible to supervise, operate and monitor production operations to ensure that process equipment is operating within established norms and process parameters are properly maintained. Due to community sensitivity of plant operations, special attention is necessary for seemingly minor issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
Perform all work in a safe, professional, and conscientious manner. Responsible for the general operation of all equipment involved with the sludge dehydration process, including but not limited to wet cake handling, sludge drying, dry solids handling, air pollution control equipment, chemical feed systems, SCADA control systems, and silo unloading and product shipment.
Monitor and record process performance parameters per plant procedures.
Ensure compliance with environmental and operating permit parameters.
Provide direct supervision to personnel who operate and monitor, and on occasion personally operate and monitor, any and all of the process-related equipment or systems in the facility.
Assist operators in troubleshooting system and equipment problems.
Review process data logs and ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensure all required samples are taken, analyzed, and data recorded on a routine basis.
Assist in daily and long-term operations and maintenance planning, providing input on equipment maintenance priorities.
Ensure that conditions affecting plant operations are reported and tracked using the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Assist plant management in development and implementation of an employee continuous improvement culture that positively impacts safety, labor productivity, plant utilization, and expense.
Train, mentor, and provide assistance to operations personnel.
Ensure all personnel in the operations department adhere to safety procedures.
Assist Manager in operations personnel performance and accountability.
Responsible for continuously maintaining cleanliness of facility as well as administering program of minor equipment maintenance and lubrication.
Job requires considerable lifting, bending, climbing ladders, as well as other strenuous physical activity.
Position also requires significant knowledge of process equipment and its operations, as well as the ability to manage personnel and positively interact with client and other non-company personnel. Requires analytical ability to translate field readings into understanding of operating status and stability.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance performance.
Complete OSHA 30 Training
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Investigate and recommend to plant management energy or cost savings measures to optimize operation.
