DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees, plans, and directs production and related plant services to meet marketing requirements within the dictates of sound operational management to ensure the most return on assets.
Ensures product is processed in strict compliance with corporate’s specifications set by the Quality Assurance Department.
Manages plant operations and spending and makes necessary adjustments based on changes in production volume.
Works closely with Corporate’s Production Planning to develop the annual production plan and assures adherence once implemented.
Plans, directs, and coordinates effectively with the Crop Department – Hanover Foods (crops and crop logistics) affecting Clayton’s operations to achieve high quality raw material at the optimal cost.
Responsible for ensuring the following safety requirements are met:
Conducting safety orientation and safety training of employees
Enforcing safe work practices
Correcting unsafe conditions
Preventing lingering unsafe and unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards
Investigating workplace accidents
Demonstrates leadership in the area of energy conservation.
Provides leadership and sets an example to all plant supervision and operational plant leadership for their work in their assigned duties and areas of responsibility. This includes developing new leadership within the plant and assisting to grow and develop the skillset of existing plant supervision and leadership.
Ensures the Collective Bargaining Agreement is effectively administered and that grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
Responsible for the administration of food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as, but not limited to: GMP’s HACCP, food safety, product quality, food security, government requirements, pre-requisite programs, quality systems, plant security, etc.
Develops and implements plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
Ensures the operation of the facility and the waste treatment plant meets or exceeds all applicable environmental and governmental mandates.
Cooperates with members of the corporate staff in implementing directives of Human Resources, Purchasing, Traffic, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Environmental Affairs, Safety Compliance, etc.
Continually strives to improve the plant safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
Ensures employee conduct to be in accordance with company rules and regulations.
Reviews and makes continuous improvements to the procedures and operations plant wide.
Assists in the development of production scheduling based on Corporate’s Marketing Plan. Implements upon management’s approval.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Vice President- Frozen Operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
5-8 years’ proven experience in Production, Quality Assurance, and/or other facets of general operational management
Agricultural awareness to effectively manage crop related duties associated with raw product procurement and and processing.
Good Communication Skills (both verbal and written). Spanish knowledge a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Industrial Management, or related field desired
