Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role is responsible for owning and managing activities in support of short term forecasting (Pacing) and quarterly close reporting and validation processes. The ideal candidate will partner across the Finance function to understand key concepts affecting the business and provide analysis to support and influence decision making.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own centralized short term forecasting tool to monitor and forecast key business drivers (ie Purchase Volume, Payments, Receivables, etc) and revenue (ie Interest Income, RSA, Other Income) for the business
  • Analyze and challenge short term forecasting estimates across the business
  • Partner with individuals from Finance COE, Treasury, Credit, Cost & Productivity, Tax, Platforms and Long Term FP&A forecasting team to understand key concepts affecting the business and provide analysis to support and influence business decisions
  • Partner with HQ FP&A, Controllership, and Investor Relations team to support review process of externally reported quarterly materials
  • Contribute to management and review of quarterly earnings analysis inventory (Cribs) and identify opportunities to streamline, provide recommendations on additional informative analysis, and identify opportunities to eliminate duplicative analysis and analysis no longer applicable to current business environment
  • Manage and support reporting deliverables for external reporting requirements, Board of Directors, CFO, and Regulatory Agencies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements across all areas of the team
  • Be accountable for ad-hoc & participation in critical business analytics as needed
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of experience in finance or similar roles; or in lieu of a degree a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or similar roles
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a financial modeling capacity

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong technical & analytical skills (Advanced Excel skills, Macros, experience with Power Query a plus)
  • Strong understanding of SYF's business model or demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts
  • Ability to work independently through complex tools and concepts
  • Strong executive communication skills with an ability to summarize large data sets and analysis
  • Ability to deliver accurate analysis and reporting in a time sensitive environment
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills to work in a highly matrixed environment

Grade/Level: 13

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
