Drill Rig Geologist
6 Month Contract
Pay Rate: 28.70 an hour.
Caldwell Canyon Mine and Ballard mine office.
Soda Springs, ID
Starting July 6th exploration/development drilling will begin at Caldwell Canyon. 50 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes will be drilled at the Caldwell Canyon Mine. The Drill holes will be concentrated in South Pit along the strike of the ore. It is necessary to hire 1 individual with knowledge of phosphate geology to help collect geologic data and perform sample preparation.
This individual will be hired for an estimated period of 6 months.
The individual’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks below. These tasks will help to gather data used in developing a greater working knowledge of geology, refine the geologic model and subsequent ore reserve, and gain tighter constraints on the lithologic units/structures.
Geologic responsibilities will include non-Geologic responsibilities will include:
· -Log lithology -Oversee day to day contractor movement
· -Collect samples following -Ensure safety and environmental policies
· standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are followed by drillers.
· -Gamma log completed holes -On site coverage while drilling
· -Prep and move samples to lab for -Oversee reclamation activities
· chemical analysis -Surveying of planned and completed.
· -Orient drill rig on drill pad activities
-Assist in uploading drill data -Identify Areas for BMP Implementation

2. What is the long-term plan for the role?
-Currently there is not a long-term plan for this position.
-This project will end 12/31/2023
-The job location is at Bayer’s Caldwell Canyon Mine - working during drilling and will be outside working 12 hour days. (work hours clarification: during drilling - now through Mid-October: rotating schedule of 14 straight working days @ 12-hour days, then 7 days off.
After drilling - Mid October - through December: rotating schedule of 4 days working, then 3 days off @ 10 hours/day, working Mon-Thurs)
c. What about PPE requirements? -The Bayer mine requires steel toe boots, Hi-Viz vest and safety glasses. Hi-Viz and safety glasses will be provided.
4. Driving clarification: A rental pickup truck will be provided. Individuals will pick up the vehicle at the Bayer Soda Springs Plant each morning and drive to the drilling location. The roads on the exploration project are dirt or gravel roads. At the end of each day, they will return the vehicle to the plant parking lot.
