Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.

- The Buyer/Planner creates, manages, and administers purchase orders and subsequent modifications (purchase order revisions) consistent with internal clients' needs, inventory requirements and procurement policies/procedures.
- Executing purchase orders for stock coded materials and direct charge purchases of goods and services based on departmental guidelines.
- Ensuring appropriate inventory quantities (levels) of stock-coded material at designated warehouses necessary to support operations, which include engineering, maintenance, construction, and indirect support functions.
- Review requisitions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures; ensure all material requests are received and processed for action in a timely manner; edit requisitions and confer with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, and quality of merchandise; and determine delivery requirements.
- Responsible for the processing and evaluation of Requests for Quotes (RFQs).
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers to ensure all goods and services are sourced at the best possible value.
- Coordinate with all applicable internal stakeholders (including business unit, Warehouse, Logistics, Accounts Payable, Legal Services, Safety Services, Cost and Plant Accounting, Corporate Taxes, Cyber Security Services, Insurance Services, Supplier Diversity, Sustainable Solutions, Finance & Controls, Board and Council, Buy America, and Corporate Audit) to ensure each purchase agreement is issued and managed in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of purchase orders utilizing requisitions received from internal clients or requisitioning systems. Includes preparation and submittal of request for quotes (RFQ's) when necessary; evaluation of quotes; placing purchase orders; determining freight carriers; and expediting shipments.
- Also includes releasing purchase orders from complex agreements created by Contract Analysts.
- Manage and administer change orders/revisions, cancellations/terminations, extensions, negotiations to existing purchase agreements.
- Monitor and mitigate potential supply chain risks (including legal, commercial, technical, financial, procure-to pay, safety, chemical, insurance, cyber security, accounting, inventory management, system controls, and physical access) with each purchase request.
- Assist with obtaining and maintaining information on suppliers' service, quality, sustainability, and other performance metrics for use when making future purchasing decisions.
- Work with internal clients, engineering, and other purchasing agents to resolve issues with suppliers as they arise and to ensure continuity of supply.
- Determine replenishment quantities and inventory stocking levels for maintenance, repair, and operating supplies (MRO).
- Maintain associated planning system parameters utilizing historical usage, anticipated demand, supplier/manufacturer lead times, carry and ordering costs and other business considerations.
- Meet with key suppliers to develop and analyze material forecasts.
- Participate in continuous effort to improve personal skills, operations, decrease turnaround times, increase inventory turns ratios, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Ensure all applicable correspondence and documents are reviewed, filed, and maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned from Purchasing Management.
- Responsible for protecting proprietary and confidential information, whether provided by company or the supplier.
- Negotiate the best economic advantage for the company while maintaining the highest ethical and commercial standards for all purchases transactions.
- Resolves issues requiring the assistance of Legal Services and Risk Management and other applicable internal stakeholders.
- Working with many entities outside the company and must present themselves and company in a professional manner.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment is preferred.
- Prior experience as a Buyer, Planner, Material Coordinator, Scheduler, Material Handler, or similar supply chain related discipline is preferred.
- College level coursework from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
