Our client, based in Milford, Delaware, is currently seeking for full time employment an experienced Industrial Cad Designer.
Our client specializes in metal forming and fabrication of metal components, assemblies and products for various industries
Job Description: As a designer you will be responsible for developing drawings for fabrication and further processing. A typical job would consist of the following steps:
- Communicating with the customer to understand specific equipment requirements.
- Utilize 3D modeling software to design all mechanical aspects of the equipment. This includes:
- Part surface modeling
- In context part & assembly modeling
- Analyzing simple motion for functionality and interference
- Creation of detail & assembly drawings * Communicating externally with vendors for purchased component selection
- Communicating project requirements internally with other members of our team
- Assist in troubleshooting during manufacturing and build
- Developing sheet metal patterns
- Developing Weldments
Education: A two year mechanical design based degree is required. Additional education is a plus.
Job Summary
Start to finish project design and management from concept drawings, to shop drawings, ordering materials and supplies related to assigned projects in a job shop setting.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Knowledge of design concepts and techniques including design for Manufacture/Assembly.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret/apply design and drafting standards.
- Knowledge of design and drafting methods (e.g., orthographic projection, descriptive geometry, layout, geometric dimension & tolerance, coordinate systems, etc.) as applied to manual drafting and/or computer-aided design tools in the creation of drawings and data sets.
- Knowledge and proficiency with parts, assemblies, multi-body surface parts, feature configurations, and assembly configurations.
Knowledge of drawing specifics defining weldments, sheet metal, machine parts and assemblies
Experience / Requirements: - Strong SolidWorks or Inventor a must.
- 2 years minimum * Experience in utilizing 3D modeling software
- 2 years in a metal fabrication environment
- Experience in selecting purchased items that fit your project requirements
- Understanding of Dimensional Tolerance, Geometric Tolerance, and Fit
- Knowledge of different machine tool capabilities, and how to design for manufacture with them.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Capable of managing multiple projects at a time
