Estimator/Quoting - CNC Machine Shop

Job Description
Estimator CNC Machine Shop- Prepare quotations and bids for manufactured components and tooling. Review customer requirements and apply best manufacturing processes to maintain a competitive edge and support sales goals.

Specific Department Tasks and Duties
Provide customer quotations and proposals including pricing, delivery times and special instructions or limitations within the specified time set.
Obtain material, outside services, including sub-contractor pricing/delivery information to help in the creation of competitive quotations and proposals.
Ensure each quotation is completed to provide opportunities for appropriate profits in accordance with the company guidelines.
Work with SEM to maintain quoting standards, adjusting production times and pricing based upon production standards.
Provide customers with delivery dates based upon quote requirements as well as current shop loading.
Interface with production department to report to customers any delays in production as required by SEM.
Ensure manufacturing and production processes quoted are in compliance with ISO 9000 & ISO 13485 and AS9100 standard operating procedures. .
Report customer feedback and requirements to SEM and Production Manager for order direction and priority guidance.
Maintain very high levels of customer satisfaction.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Strong aptitude in mechanical design, manufacturing, CNC Machining and engineering.
Strong math skills.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
Must be able to project (over the telephone) a high-energy professional image.
Strong PC skills - working knowledge of PC, Windows applications and CAD software.
Strong communications skills verbal and written (English).
Has a background with workplace safety, OSHA regulations and quality control.
Must be able to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels.
Have an understanding of the ISO 9000, ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 quality standards and requirements.
Must have a background in Lean Manufacturing, including 5S.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements are stressful with 10-20% of the time spent walking around the plant and office areas and traveling to visit Customers. The remainder of the time will be spent sitting working on a PC, attending meetings and reviewing drawings. This position requires manual dexterity of the hands and the normal bending and twisting associated with both plant and desk operations. Walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, kneeling and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers and the ability to lift at least forty (40) pounds. Must be able to constantly kneel, squat, climb and have full bending abilities at the waist (touch the toes). The body senses of sight (not color blind), hearing (safety) is required. Good vision to read diagrams and business documents. Must be able to wear safety glasses and hearing protection for prolong periods of time.
Working Conditions
The majority of the time (95%) will be spent in a plant/office environment. Temperatures will remain consistent between both environments. Noise levels will be high in the plant area and moderate in the office area. Work schedule is between 40-45 hours per week.
General Tasks and Duties
Works closely with the Sales Engineering Manager (SEM) and other managers in the coordination of efforts between departments that is required to ensure proper and timely delivery of product to customers.
Achieves Key Performance Indicators (KPI"s) for area of responsibility.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP"s) for area of responsibility.
Through trade publications, papers, seminars, classes and trade shows, shall stay abreast of new ideas. Make every effort to use the information for the benefit of the company
Assures compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 13485 & AS9100 quality standards throughout entire area of responsibility.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the SEM.

Experience
Required: Minimum of (3) years experience in EDM, CNC Machining, tooling design, Engineering and/or production machining.
Required: Minimum of (1) years Machine Shop Estimating experience.
Preferred: Minimum of (2) years of ERP/MRP Computer experience.
Preferred: Minimum of (2 years creating M.S. Excel spreadsheets.
Education
Required: High School diploma or GED and mature business competency.
Preferred: College Degree in Mechanical Engineering or MET, MFGET, IE, IET and/or Business Administration.
