Synergy Health Partners is looking for a Procedure Scheduler to work full-time in our Troy offices (with the option for hybrid work after an introductory period). Under limited supervision this role schedules, cancels, changes and update all surgical cases to be performed by the physicians. This is a position which requires extreme accuracy.
This posting is for a full-time, M-F, day-shift, position is on-site in Troy, MI during orientation and training and then hybrid remote thereafter.
Job Duties:
Tracks physician’s orders for surgical procedures verifying that patients receive the necessary paperwork and information for their procedure (example: medical clearance, etc.)
Schedules patients for surgery, pre-operative and post-operative appointments, gives instructions as needed. Coordinate these activities to avoid conflict in scheduling and/or preparation for procedures.
Communicates with physicians or physicians’ office personnel, completes surgical boarding form and confirms that all information on the surgical form is accurate and forwards to the hospital boarding office for scheduling.
Contacts the patient to obtain and/or updated any insurance information; contacts patient’s Primary Care Physician as needed, decides when/where surgery will be boarded according to physician’s schedule and follows physician’s orders, if patient requires any further testing, medical clearances, special instrumentation, home care, etc.
Responsible for all communications with appropriate departments to ensure that all the necessary documents/authorization numbers are accurate and are complete prior to the surgery date.
Instructs patients, answers questions, and provides documentation as needed.
Schedules surgical procedures with surgical boarding at the appropriate hospital. Updates and rearranges the physician’s schedules in order to accommodate the patient as well as the physician’s office schedule. Schedules add-on emergency cases, getting all appropriate information from the physician and/or physician’s staff. Notifies the appropriate departments of cancelled cases.
Keeps accurate records of all surgical cases boarded including in physician’s scheduling books. Scans and maintains all patient surgical forms in patient’s charts.
Responsible for accurately copying all patient’s chart notes, lab and diagnostic tests, medical clearances as applicable.
Maintains direct and frequent communication with Physicians and Manager to ensure surgical scheduling coverage is maintained during office hours.
Basic Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
One year of clerical or customer-service experience (preferably in a medical office)
The ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues as they arise
The ability to multitask and operate a multiline phone system and computer
Time-management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more years of medical office, billing department, or call center experience
Ability to multitask as well as possess adequate organizations skills
Experience inputting insurance information, personal information, and patient medical records into an EHR/EMR system
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical abbreviations
Exceptional written and verbal communication and comprehension skills

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
